JAI by Wolfgang Puck restaurant located at La Jolla Playhouse on the UCSD campus has changed its operating hours effective March 15, 2010. The restaurant will be open for dinner from 5:30 pm on La Jolla Playhouse performance dates only, with availability for private events and off-site catering at any time.

JAI’s menu features diverse Asian fusion cuisine ranging from miso sake broiled butterfish to crispy Cantonese duck. Executive Chef Ben Hong works closely with Chef Puck, drawing on his experience as executive chef at Puck’s Red 7, to create this extraordinary menu.

The name JAI (pronounced “Jay”) both draws on the Thai word for “heart” and references the Chinese good luck dish. Beyond the plate, guests at JAI enjoy a modern ambiance designed by architect Martin Vahtra of PROJECTS architectural and interior design. Vahtra also designed Red 7 for Puck plus Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club in Las Vegas, and the Time Hotel in New York City.

JAI’s light-filled dining room and inviting outdoor patio provide the perfect venue for private events. Accommodating groups of 10-135 people, JAI offers flexibility in its catering options. Drop-off and full-service catering in private homes or preferred venues in greater San Diego also available.
